About the book:
“Loss-iLahleko is not only an exploration of the shared experiences of
victims, it is also a manual on where to seek help and the steps one can
take if you or someone you know, is a victim of GBV. There is a thread
of silent pained strength that runs through Loss-iLahleko and a beauty
that belongs only to women and children who know suffering at the
hands of someone they love”
~ Elaine Pillay, from the introduction
Written by twelve extraordinary South African female writers, here lies a multilingual journey of loss experienced by women and children over multiple generations in an unequal and unjust society that has made way for violence to rob us of our bodies, minds, and languages.
This second addition of the book features an introduction from Elaine Pillay. Elaine Pillay is a Durban born, award-winning author with a degree in English Literature.
